March 2025 Farming God’s Way Trip to SE Asia

Here is a recap of the email updates we sent out during our March 2025 trip through SE Asia.

March 1

Could you please pray as I travel to Asia through March 16 to teach Farming God’s Way?

These will be new areas and my knowledge of agriculture there is minimal so tailoring the training to make it relevant will be key. These are not at all Christian areas so Satan will not be pleased. Lots of travel in not the calmest places means increased potential physical danger as well.

Do your prayers matter? YES. Short or long, eloquent or simple. God hears.

Thank you,

David

March 8

First, could you please pray that our visas would come through as they are tangled in red tape, or that the Father would otherwise direct us.

The training this week was with a group that included pastors, fellowship planters and college students all associated with a network here of about 250 fellowships. Government spying and harassment is common, so we tried to keep a low profile and can’t post anything on social media. The training was wonderful, and everyone is excited to put it into practice and share in their communities. My teammate did a great job. The food here is varied and spicy so I enjoyed that. The people have been very kind, and we stayed at a nice hotel (not normal for FGW trainings:). Our classroom was a (cleaned) chicken house!

Thank you for praying! God bless you and your families

March 16

Thanks so much for praying! We had a wonderful week in the capital, teaching Tuesday through Friday a group of pastors and evangelist church planters who are also farming/gardening. Their plan is to take the ideas to their villages scattered across the country. A few participants had more than a week of travel through the war-torn country to get to the training. What a humbling moment to stand in the presence of so many strong men and women of God who have sacrificed much for the Kingdom of God. They will stay for more training this coming week provided by ECHO staff.

Saturday was a bonus day teaching at a children’s home for kids who have fled violence in their home states. We had several missionaries attend as well as lots of kids. It was a fast three-hour introduction with lots of stories, hands on demonstrations, capped off with planting a small demo garden.

God bless each of you for your partnership in the work of God through Farming God’s Way. My partner in crime Harry and I are in Tokyo waiting for a delayed flight to the US. Hoping and praying we make all connections to get home Monday!

Nicaragua 2016 Trip

download-newsletter

Description: While I have traveled to Central and South America a number of
times, this was the first trip I wore my agricultural hat while travelling. To my knowledge, this was the first time FGW has been taught in Spanish! I wasn’t really sure what to expect, I assumed they would know a little more than the Africans I typically teach. Nicaragua is the second poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere behind Haiti. I was invited down to teach by Nicaragua Resource Network otherwise known as NRN. Download to read more….

Nicaragua 2017 Trip

download-newsletter

Description: It was a hot week. I could feel beads of sweat rolling down my back and chest as I stood in front of the
church and taught. My eyes were watering from the smoke drifting in the side door where the ladies were busy preparing our lunch.  In the midst of a little physical discomfort, I kept reflecting on how happy I was to be back in Nicaragua. We were in the small community of Abangaca, just outside of Leon. The attendance was a little smaller than most trainings, but never have I answered so many questions. I found it very difficult to keep on schedule because of the intense interest of the participants.  Download to read more….
